Hotel in Sigtuna, Sweden & long tangent.

I found this Swedish hotel on Remodelista and I just love interiors! Great mix of traditional Swedish design and mid-century pieces...
Love this room! Simple, but cozy and relaxing, which is just what you want at a hotel!
I have a weird fascination with staircases....and I love this one. I like the simple curve and nice seating area that fits perfectly in the little nook.
Original molding=love...and how cute are those cubbies?
I always wanted a toilet like this when I was young. Is that weird? Strange necessity for an 8 year old. I think there was a toilet like this at The Kellogg House in Santa Ana, Ca. I LOVED going there....even had my 9th--I think-- birthday party there. They dressed us up in Victorian clothes (even though I had already dressed up in my own accurate Victorian outfit, down to the bloomers, prior the party, yes I was that kid who loved to play dress-up on a daily basis). After we dressed up we danced in the parlor while listening to music from an old phonograph. Afterwords, we had cake and tea under a pretty gazebo in the garden. I think this was one of my favorite themed birthday parties, hard to choose a favorite because they were all so great. I had everywhere from a "Free Willy" party to an "I Spy" party, where I sent the invitations as puzzle pieces in an envelope and you had to put the puzzle together to read the invite. I have to say, my mom was the greatest childhood party planner...

I can see that the toilet brought me on a very long tangent....strange what a toilet can make you think of.

Want a cupcake?

Delicious, right? Too bad they aren't real....they're soap! I was browsing all of the pretty things on Etsy when I found these cute creations on Verbena's Custom Blends Etsy shop. These would be such a cute and unique party favor! I will have to keep these in mind the next time I throw a nice tea party/luncheon with my friends--okay, so I have never actually thrown a tea party/luncheon (since I was at least 7), but these soap cupcakes almost make me want to put the effort into a tea party extravaganza!

Sofas with shelving...

I've never thought of doing this, but if done right, it actually looks very chic!

For sale: on Bunny Lane

This interesting house built out of re-purposed shipping containers is for sale right now...
I don't know if I could live here, but I have to admit it's pretty cool. This would be such an interesting place to be in.
I love this! A house within a house! I want to know if the house was already there and they built the new house around the old house? It reminds me of Disneyland, and Pirates of the Caribbean to be specific.
I think this room is hilarious, what a view you would have of the rest of the house from the window.

My favorite color combination (right now)...

I'm realizing that I LOVE (and I mean love) the color combination lavender, olive green and white. I've been seeing it a lot lately, and now that I think of it I have a lot of lavender and green in my house, not much white though. I love these colors with lighter stained wood. It's so Scandinavian, so light, and so crisp! So, now we come to the picture...
This is the Paris living room of fashion designer Vanessa Bruno via the style files. I think this picture sums up my love for these colors. The amazing 17th century architecture provides a beautiful backdrop for the mixture of mid-century and contemporary furniture. LOVE IT. LOVE IT. LOVE IT!

Contemporary Renovation

I found this nice example of a very contemporary renovation and addition to an older London home via Shoot Factory. The space is very bright and the layout is nice and open, but the staircase has to be my favorite part...
The picture below is for my dog lover friend...

...and the fog is back

What a tease, 3 days of wonderful heat and beautiful views...
and now this....
The fog is back! What happened to the bridge? (by the way, it only took about 5 minutes for this fog to roll in, how typical for San Francisco)
And this picture? I just love the white, maybe because that's all I see out my window now. How great is that round pendant light? Anyways, more pictures of this elegant Stockholm apartment at the style files.

Feeling crafty...

I found this little crafty activity over on Apartment Therapy...how to make mirrors from thrifted plates. This is such an easy and inexpensive way to add some interest to that blank wall you've been wondering how to fill. I will have to keep an eye out for some funky plates next time I'm at a yard sale (okay, I think I always have my eye out for plates at garage sales, but this time I will actually make use of them!)

Patio inspiration...

It's been so hot these past few days that I wish I had a nice patio or deck to hang out or BBQ on. The roof is nice (pretty awesome actually) but there is nothing up there, I think it needs some chairs for better lounging. I really wish that we had a nice backyard, It's pretty big and it has lots of potential but there are a lot of weeds and random trees. In the picture you can't even tell where the backyard ends, kind of like a secret garden...I've never even been all the way to the back fence. Believe it or not, it was actually a lot worse last year but our neighbors below us cleaned up the middle section of the yard and discovered a small fire pit and a concrete slab. Haven't used the fire pit yet....San Francisco weather isn't always nice enough for some backyard BBQ's.
Well, in the meantime (as in while I'm lounging on the roof), I will be dreaming that I am lounging on one of these pretty patios....
I wish my roof looked like this (I would never leave)....

Beautiful Monday

It was so hot today in San Francisco, at least 85 degrees! I forgot what it felt like to feel heat! Didn't do much today other than go on my roof to re-introduce myself to the sun, and snap some pics of the beautiful view from my house...

Lovely home on this lovely day

Here is gorgeous London Victorian via LivingEtc. I love the original molding and details which feel very fresh with the updated contemporary look. I think I'm in a bit of a pink phase right now, I keep looking at pictures of rooms with splashes of pink. Maybe because it's springtime? Maybe because I have some beautiful pink tulips on my dining room table, which is right in front of me when I'm on my computer (yeah, I think that's it, I keep getting flashes of pink whenever I look up). Anyways, enjoy these pictures of this lovely home...
